About UNESCO Chair

UNITWIN stands for UNIVERSITY TWINNING. It was adopted as a project at the 26th UNESCO General Assembly to promote cooperation among universities. In addition, the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chair Programme has the objective to promote education and research activities by all higher education organizations in the university network, and to advise on matters related to the exchange of knowledge across borders. The UNITWIN/UNESCO Chair Programme, after its launch in 1992, has been drawing great interest from UNESCO member nations. As of the end of October 2007, as many as 630 UNESCO Chairs and 67 UNITWIN networks have been established among the 760 education and research organizations of 125 countries. The activities and contact address information for these are listed in the UNITWIN portal page.
